Ivy Farm
Kent
Client: Private
Date: Planning achieved Spring 2011
CZWG has developed design proposals for a private house to be built on an existing apple orchard in Kent. The client brief was that the majority of the site should continue to be used to grow fruit on a commercial basis in parallel with providing the land owners with a family home. The scheme has been submitted for planning under the PPS7 planning guidance which allows for exceptional architecture to be built within the English Countryside as long as the design is ‘outstanding and ground breaking” in some aspect.
“We strongly support the proposed scheme, which in our view successfully fuses architectural innovation with a respect for its very special surroundings. We recognise that care has been taken in selecting the right position for the house, and especially commend the way the environmental strategy has been at the heart of the design”.
