City Science

Glasgow

City Science is a unique proposition – an urban business quarter for science and technology bringing 21st Century meaning to the original business quarter of Glasgow, the Merchant City. It is an integrated part of the city, open and accessible, including retail, leisure, hotel, restaurant and residential space in addition to the core provision of offices and research space. The old street network is retained but augmented by a new visual and symbolic link to the University – ‘New Street’. External public spaces of varying character are important to the concept, with the Hub Building and its related space being the focus of the scheme, providing central conference and learning facilities and a place where workers, residents and visitors meet, eat and drink.
