'C' Reeds Wharf

Bermondsey, London

A house plot on the river in central London is rare. This one bookends Reeds ‘B’ Wharf at its other end from China Wharf. Designed in 1987, it was completed in 2000 to virtually the original design, the client acting as his own builder. The diamond plan cantilevers some four metres out over the water with maximum glazing in that direction. Whilst the eastern flank overlooks a public open space, the southern elevation is made up of the chamfered end of the diamond and a circular stair tower against Reeds ‘B’ Wharf. The result is a sculptural object building which nonetheless segues itself into its warehouse neighbour. Client: John Creed-Miles
