Born in Manchester in 1954, Stephen Rigg studied architecture at the University there and subsequently at the Architectural Association in London. Whilst studying at the AA he worked intermittently at CZWG, joining the practice full time in 1982 and becoming an Associate in 1985 and a Partner in 2006.
Stephen has a major role in projects at every stage from competition entries to construction on site and for a time concentrated on the practice’s work in Scotland. This included the construction of two office buildings in Glasgow – Wheatley House and Cotton House – and housing at Queen Elizabeth Square in Gorbals. Masterplanning work in Scotland included the plan for Gorbals in Glasgow known as the Crown Street Regeneration Project which has now been implemented, the masterplan for the Edinburgh Waterfront at Granton and City Science, a masterplan for an urban science and technology quarter in central Glasgow.
Subsequently Stephen has been involved in mixed use projects in London for various clients. These include Bankside Lofts for Manhattan Loft Corporation, Ladbroke Green, a masterplan for the Peabody Trust, and Canada Water for Acacia Group and British Land.
Stephen is currently working on a new public Library in Canada water and a variety of mixed use and masterplan projects in London and the South East. He has a continuing interest in architecture and sustainability.
