Love Bites in Brighton

CZWG’s design for Black Lion Street, a £10 m mixed-use development is now complete. Existing buildings on the street have been remodelled and restored to create a restaurant space on the ground floor, occupied by Jamie Oliver’s “Jamie’s Italian” and a karaoke bar.

Upper floors house open plan office spaces with large outdoor terraces at the back of the building and balconies and bay windows at the front. On the street façade, the buildings have been clad in weathered timber, a reference to the traditional seaside buildings, with A-shaped openings of different heights complementing the neighbouring pub frontage.

The newly partially pedestrianised street forms one of the main walkways and entrances from the Seafront to the eclectic Lanes and has been enhanced with artwork by Ricky Delany with assistance from the children at local school, Middle Street Primary.
